Tracey Jerome was one of several medium-level employees who climbed to the upper echelon of the City administration during the reign of City Manager Gonzalez, who rewarded his subordinates for their loyalty and their willingness to say “yes” to whatever he demanded.
Jerome was one of many who jumped ship after Gonzalez was fired in February 2023. Once the third highest paid employee of the City, she took a job on April 29 last year as Town Manager of Mooresville, North Carolina.
Not even 9 months into her tenure, she is now being sued for wrongfully terminating an IT employee who “observed conduct inconsistent with Town ethics and security policies, including the Mayor walking through Town Hall hallways without pants for an extended period.”
You cannot make this stuff up!
The lawsuit alleges “this case is not about a leak. It is about retaliation for telling the truth and weaponizing police and investigative authority to protect politically connected officials.”
Let’s all be grateful that Jerome is now someone else’s problem.
