Bill Hicks has more than 26 years of experience in the legal profession, including as Assistant District Attorney under Jaime Esparza from 1998 to 2010 and as State District Court Judge of the 243rd Judicial District Court of El Paso from 2010 to 2012. He has worked in criminal defense and prosecution, and in both public and private practice.
Hicks was appointed District Attorney of the 24th Judicial District by Governor Abbott on December 14, 2022, the same day the resignation of his predecessor Yvonne Rosales went into effect.
Today we discussed Hicks’ career, his appointment by the Governor, the challenge of bringing order to an office that was in total chaos, and his achievements since assuming office almost fifteen months ago.
Hicks is running for election to his own position as a Republican in a race that will be decided on November 5.
