The attached letter is a publicly available document and was presented to the court by Ernesto Borrego in his Title VII anti-discrimination lawsuit against Renard Johnson’s company.

In 2018, a trial jury awarded Borrego $277,000, including attorney and court fees.

His opponent in the mayoral race, Rep. Brian Kennedy, commented in a mailer: “Renard got rich through no-bid federal contracts available to minority firms. But when a Hispanic male employed by Renard’s company, METI, lodged a complaint for discrimination, Renard retaliated by firing him.”
