El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – SOCORRO ISD FACES FINANCIAL IMPLOSION BUT, HEY, AT LEAST THEY HAVE A NEW STADIUM!

Posted on March 26, 2025

[[{“value”:”

The Socorro Independent School District is in a deep financial hole and under the conservatorship of the Texas Education Agency.

In November they had to take out a $25.1 million loan to make payroll, and now we learn they must lay off about 300 teachers and staff to help shave $38 million from next year’s budget.

But hey, at least they have a brand new $58.9 million stadium for their losing team! (The Bulldogs have not had a winning season in 23 years and are currently 0-6 in their District).

The SISD Board of Trustees and administration should be deeply embarrassed by their financial malfeasance and some should probably face criminal prosecution, but don’t hold your breath!
