EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple thefts at an East El Paso beauty shop with one suspect having been arrested and two others having been identified.
The Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating several thefts at the Ulta Beauty store, 13371 Gateway West.

In the first case, deputies responded to a theft on Feb. 18, after two suspects stole approximately $1,900 worth of makeup before fleeing in a white GMC Acadia with Chihuahua, Mexico license plates, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Security cameras captured the individuals leaving the store, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives launched an investigation, distributing surveillance images to law enforcement agencies. Officers from the El Paso Police Department identified the suspects as 20-year-old U.S. citizen Aileen Rodriguez Escareno and 24-year-old Mexican national Jesus Alonso Reyes Guevara. Both are connected to other thefts in El Paso, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Further investigation revealed that U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded
Rodriguez and Guevara entering the United States in the same vehicle approximately 40
minutes before the theft. Detectives secured arrest warrants for both suspects.
On Monday, March 31, U.S. Customs agents encountered the vehicle and Rodriguez Escareno as she attempted to enter the U.S. through the Paso Del Norte port of entry. Detectives
responded and arrested Rodriguez Escareno on the outstanding warrant.
She was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail, and the vehicle was impounded. Reyes Guevara remains at large, the Sheriff’s Office said.
In a separate incident, deputies responded to another theft at the same Ulta Beauty location on March 4. A male suspect stole approximately $500 worth of merchandise, including a hair dryer, before fleeing in a Chevrolet Silverado with New Mexico license plates.
Detectives shared surveillance images with law-enforcement agencies, and a Texas Department of Public Safety crime analyst identified the suspect as 42-year-old Adan Gutierrez using a facial recognition system, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Gutierrez was previously arrested for allegedly stealing from a jewelry store in the Cielo Vista Mall and was featured in a Sheriff’s Office press release on Aug. 22, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Gutierrez is suspected of additional thefts in El Paso. A criminal warrant for theft of property-shoplifting was issued for Gutierrez, with bond set at $15,000.
“The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office urges local business owners and department stores to
remain vigilant. Anyone with information regarding these wanted shoplifters is encouraged
to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately. We remain committed to protecting the
community, holding fugitives accountable, and ensuring those who pose a risk to public
safety face justice,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
