Posted on August 24, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A woman was killed and three other people were injured in a crash earlier this week along Interstate 10 east of Van Horn, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Eva Mae Chopane, 80, of Los Angeles, was killed in a single vehicle rollover crash just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Mile Marker 181 on Interstate 10, about 35 miles east of Van Horn in Jeff Davis County, DPS said. Three other people were transported to Culberson Hospital and were treated for minor injuries, DPS added.

DPS said Chopane was driving east on I-10 when she veered off the road, onto the dirt shoulder and spun out, DPS said.

The vehicle came to rest on its roof. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said.

This crash remains under investigation.
