EL PASO (KTSM) — One person was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, Aug 18 along Interstate 10 in Central El Paso that has closed down part of the freeway, El Paso Police said.
Three vehicles crashed into each other at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on I-10 East near Piedras (Mile Marker 22), police said.
One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. A second collision happened at the scene involving an unoccupied police car that was helping with traffic control, police said. No injuries were reported in that second crash.
Special Traffic Investigators are on the scene, police said.
Interstate 10 East is closed at the crash site and traffic is being diverted at the Dallas exit, police said.
TxDOT reports that traffic is backed up is to the Downtown area and says clearing time is until further notice.
