EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department welcomed 16 new rookie officers to the department.
Sixteen aspiring officers graduated from EPPD’s 133rd Academy during a ceremony at Canutillo High School on Friday, March 15.
The academy lasted 11 months and graduating officers will now start on patrol.
The keynote speaker was Jon Becker, who is founder and CEO of Aardvark Tactical, a manufacturer and integrator of tactical equipment for law enforcement and military units.
Becker is also an attorney and the host of the Debrief Podcast.
He has spent nearly four decades working with tactical units all over their world and studying their leadership practices, El Paso Police said.
Two of the academy graduates are legacy graduates, meaning they have family members currently working in the department.
