EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A major road project in Northeast El Paso is nearly ready for motorists to drive upon it — just a few more days.
The first phase of the new State Spur 320, to be called the Borderland Expressway, is complete, the Texas Department of Transportation said.
There will be a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony for the roadway at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10955 Railroad Dr.

TxDOT officials said the new roadway will be open for motorists on Wednesday. Motorists will need to watch for a new signalized intersection.
The first phase of the Borderland Expressway is 1-mile long, has four lanes of frontage roads and will run from Railroad Drive to Business Route U.S. 54 (Dyer Street).
Phased construction includes frontage roads from Railroad Drive to Business U.S. 54 (Dyer
Street); mainlanes from Railroad Drive to FM 3255 (MLK Jr. Boulevard); and mainlanes from
Business US 54 (Dyer Street) to Loop 375 (mainlanes).
Phase 2 is scheduled to begin construction in late 2025 and will include ramps, intersections, bridges, drainage, lighting, traffic lights and a shared-use path, TxDOT said.
Phase 3 of the project is not funded and is under design.
