EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two people are dead following a structure fire last Friday, Dec. 6, near Montana Vista, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a structure fire located on the 4000 block of Ballard that Friday. After crews extinguished the fire, two bodies were found.
The fire was ruled as accidental and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is actively assisting with the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office urges the community safely keep their homes warm.
“It is important to remember that using ovens and stoves to heat your residence is extremely dangerous because the risks can lead to safety hazards such as explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. The Sheriff’s Office recommends utilizing space hearts for indoor use and installing carbon monoxide detectors to alert you of dangerous levels of carbon monoxide,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
