EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two people are dead after a head-on collision Saturday afternoon, Aug. 9 near Tornillo, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happended at about 2:30 p.m. in the area of M.F. Aguilera and O.T. Smith.
The investigation determined that a Nissan Titan and a Mazda CX-5 collided head-on.
The driver of the Mazda died at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The driver of the Nissan and a passenger from the Mazda were taken to the hospital, where the Mazda passenger later died despite getting life-saving measures, the Sheriff’s Office said.
It is not known if speed was a contributing factor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
