The Scenic View Rest Area in Las Cruces will get about $7,000 in upgrades to its water system. It is expected to be closed for about a week.

The Welcome Center and Rest Area in Lordsburg will get about $995,000 in upgrades to its main building, landscaping and restrooms. It will be closed for about three months.

“Improving roadside rest areas provides a safe space for drivers to take breaks, reducing the likelihood of accidents caused by fatigue. Upgraded facilities offer travelers a more pleasant experience during their journeys, enhancing overall comfort and satisfaction,” according to a news release sent out by NMDOT.
