EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The 2025 Amigo Airsho has been canceled, the Fort Bliss Garrison Commander Col. Michael V. Soyka announced on Friday, Oct. 17.
The cancellation comes in the wake of the federal government shutdown after Congress was unable to come up with a spending plan.
The Amigo Airshow was expected to take place on Oct. 18-19 at Biggs Army Airfield at Fort Bliss.
After a 12-year hiatus, the Amigo Airsho returned to Biggs Army Airfield in 2024.
The show was affected by federal budget cuts, which necessitated it ceasing operation in 2012.
The show originally started in 1981, as the vision of El Pasoans Dick and Suzie Azar, Sandi Brown, Nathan Goldman, Jean Kahn, John McGuire, Alan Russell and Dario Toffenetti.
The show returned last year, with MountainStar Sports Group as the title sponsor.
This is a developing story, and KTSM will update as we learn more.
