EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Authorities in Juarez have temporarily closed five day-care facilities following allegations of child sexual abuse.
At a news conference Friday, April 11, officials with the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office said up to 71 children ages 1 to 4 may have been victimized.
They also announced the arrest of a 21-year-old day-care worker on child sexual abuse charges.
Officials said they began the investigations after a handful of parents said they noticed mood changes in their children as far back as late January.
More than 230 children were screened by physicians and psychologists during the course of the investigation.
