EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 90-year-old woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Sunday, Feb. 2, in East El Paso, El Paso Police said.
Police say the fatal crash happened just after 5 p.m. Sunday along the 11000 block of Vista Del Sol and Lomaland.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 37-year-old woman was traveling westbound on Vista Del Sol and was attempting to make a left turn onto Lomaland in a black SUV.
At the same time, a 64-year-old woman and passenger Maria De La Luz Roman, 90, were traveling eastbound on Vista Del Sol in a red SUV.
Police say the black SUV failed to yield the right of way while making the left turn and struck the red SUV.
All women were transported to a local hospital but De La Luz Roman later died from her injuries. Both of the drivers suffered minor injuries, police said.
Police say this is the fifth traffic fatality of 2025 compared to six at this time last year.
