KTSM News – Albuquerque Fire Rescue donates rescue truck to Mesilla

Posted on November 18, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) will be donating a rescue truck to the town of Mesilla, as it’s experiencing an increase in calls, according to AFR.

AFR says Mayor Tim Keller and Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo will travel south to donate a decommissioned AFR rescue truck to the town of Mesilla, Nm.

Mesilla, which is located on the western edge of Las Cruces, has a population of about 2,000 people. The town is experiencing an increase in calls and automatic aide agreements with surrounding departments continue to increase in demands for service, according to AFR.

“The addition of this donated rescue truck will add to the response capabilities of the Mesilla Fire Department,” AFR said.

The truck is a 2007 Chevrolet 4500 with a transport capable, ambulance body that has served Albuquerque for 18 years.
