KTSM News – Another cold front Thursday — Your 9-Day Forecast

Posted on January 22, 2025

The low at the airport this morning was 16. If you feel as though this January is a lot colder than last January, then your feelings are correct. Last January, we only had ONE DAY with a high in the 40s (none in the 30s). All the other days were 50s, 60s, 70s, and even a 73 on January 18. The average high temperature through the entire month of January 2024 was 60.6!

This is a much colder January. The average high so far this month is 54.5. So far, we’ve had 3 days with highs below 40. We’ve had 11 mornings at or below 32. We get another cold front tomorrow with stronger gusts on the west slopes of the mountains. Here’s your 9-Hour Forecast and your 9-Day Forecast below.

TONIGHT:    The skies will be partly cloudy, and we will not be as cold as the previous two nights.  The low will drop to 24 at the airport, 20 in the valley.  The NW winds will range from 5-10 mph.

FORECAST:     Thursday will start out partly cloudy as the winds begin to pick up with a cold front.  The NE winds will range from 15-35 mph, dropping the high to 44.   Expect stronger gusts on the west slopes of the mountain and have the big coat ready as the winds will feel quite cold at times.  The low will drop to 18 for Friday morning.  Friday will be sunny and warmer with a high of 54.  The SW winds will range from 5-15 mph, making for a beautiful day.  Saturday will be partly cloudy and windy.  Saturday’s high: 64. The SW winds will range from 10-30 mph.  Sunday will be partly cloudy and windy with a high of 67. The SW winds will gust to near 35 mph, and we could see a slight dusty haze.  Monday will be partly cloudy with similar winds to Sunday.  With a high of 68, expect a slight dusty haze by afternoon.  Tuesday will be mostly sunny and 60.  The clouds thicken on Wednesday as the high drops to 50.  Thursday will be cloudy with a few drops of rain and a high of 45.
