EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Anthony Elementary School was placed on a “hold” status Tuesday, Sept. 10 following threats made by a student involving a weapon, Gadsden Independent School District said in a news release.
Gadsden ISD said law enforcement was immediately contacted after receiving the threat.
After a “thorough investigation,” it was determined that the student in question had an air gun, commonly referred to as a BB gun, according to Gadsden ISD.
Gadsden ISD said at no time was the safety of any students compromised, and all necessary precautions were taken to maintain a secure environment.
“The Gadsden Independent School District is working closely with law enforcement to investigate the situation further and ensure the continued safety of all students on campus. Due to privacy laws, no additional information about the student involved can be disclosed. However, the district is following all proper protocols and disciplinary procedures,” read the news release.
