WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump is calling for Iran and Israel to make a deal as fighting between the two countries now enters its fourth day.
Iran fired a new wave of missiles in retaliation for Israel’s attacks on military and nuclear infrastructure.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee posted that one of the missiles from Iran hit near the U.S. embassy branch in Tel Aviv Sunday night. He says there’s minor damage but no injuries to U.S. personnel.
“I think Israel has a right to defend itself, and I support what Israel is doing to defend itself,” said Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff says he does not want to see a broader war break out in the region.
“The U.S. should be very loathe to engage in another war,” said Schiff.
President Trump posted on Truth Social Sunday he believes the U.S. can, “easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict.”
Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul said the U.S. should stay out of it.
It’s not the U.S.’s job to be involved in this war…One of the things I like about President Trump is he has shown restraint,” said Paul.
Meanwhile President Trump will meet with world leaders in Canada for the G7 summit.
The president of the European Commission said Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.
“Iran is the principal source of regional instability,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Talks were scheduled to happen Sunday between the U.S. and Iran over Iran’s nuclear program but those were called off after Israel’s attack.
