EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Blue Front Fire, burning outside of Ruidoso, is now 50 percent contained, according to an update issued by the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire, which is burning 9 miles northwest of Ruidoso, has burned 323 acres as of Saturday, Nov. 2, the Forest Service said.
The fire started on Monday, Oct. 28 and a cause has not been determined.
About 80 fire personnel are on the ground fighting the fire.
“Crews will secure the fire perimeter and interior heat with the goal of preventing any further growth. The majority of fire activity consists of scattered heat sources within the fire perimeter that will continue to the extinguished by firefighters,” according to the update issued by the U.S. Forest Service.
There are no evacuations at the present time, but the Bonito Lake corridor continues to be in “ready” status.
