EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Train Show is chugging its way to the Borderland to showcase the beauty and history of the past.

The train show is a family-free event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at 850 Hawkins Blvd., at the Freeport McMoRan Copper Refinery.

According to the Railroad and Transportation Museum of El Paso del Norte, the event will include a live train robbery by the Six Guns and Shady Ladies, kids’ activities, souvenirs, books, and food.

Participants can board the steam train, Southern Pacific 3420, and explore the caboose.

The El Paso Train Show also provides the community with safety rules when attending the event:

Wear closed toed shoes

Do not step on the top of the rail

No running

Stay is the designated train show area

If an event volunteer or Freeport employee instructs something, please comply

The El Paso County Historical Society will also have their own free exhibit on the railroads of El Paso from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 through Saturday, May 11 at the Burges House, located on 603 W.Yandell Dr.

The exhibit will feature photos and memorabilia from eras of 1881 through World War II, according to the news release by the historical society.

The Union Pacific Foundation is sponsoring the event through their “Community Ties Giving Program” that provides grants in areas of safety, workforce development and community spaces, according to the news release.

“Union Pacific proudly supports organizations that improve the quality of life where our employees live and work. Investing in high-quality, nonprofit programs puts our communities in a position for future growth and prosperity,” said Union Pacific President and Union Pacific Foundation President Beth Whited.
