EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A wanted man with four outstanding criminal warrants was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 14, after a short foot pursuit in far East El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO).
At around 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 14, deputies were dispatched to the 3800 block of John Christopher Drive about a possible burglary of a habitation in progress.
Upon arrival, deputies observed and made contact with a man matching the suspect description provided. The individual was later identified as 34-year-old Daniel J. Dennis, who had four outstanding criminal warrants, according to EPCSO.

As deputies attempted to place Dennis into custody, he fled on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued before Dennis was apprehended without further incident.

“If you run, we will catch you,” said Sheriff Ugarte. “This suspect thought he could get away, but deputies chased him down and took him into custody. Running only makes things worse. In El Paso County, when you break the law and try to flee, we will not stop until you are caught and held accountable.”
A search revealed that Dennis had methamphetamine. Deputies also determined that Dennis caused property damage and had stolen items from the victim’s residence, according to EPCSO.
Dennis was transported and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Possession of a controlled substance — no bond
- Three counts of theft of property — $4,001 bond
- Evading arrest or detention — $5,000 bond
- Possession of a controlled substance — $5,000 bond
- Theft of property — $5,000 bond
- Criminal mischief — $5,000 bond
