EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A body discovered in a vacant building in a rural Missouri county on Friday, June 6 has been identified as a missing 37-year-old woman from El Paso, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was found in New Florence, a town that is about 75 miles northwest of St. Louis.
The woman, who was not identified by name, had been previously reported missing on Feb. 5 in El Paso, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.
The body was found on June 3 and the woman was identified by Missouri authorities on June 6.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of death has not yet been determined and will be established through further forensic examination, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this very difficult time,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
