EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The man who was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide after he had a physical confrontation with his mother’s ex-boyfriend had his bond amount lowered on Thursday, Oct. 23.
Jeremiah Nathanial Aguilar, 23, who has been jailed for 14 days as of Thursday, had his bond initially set at $100,000.
During his bond hearing, Defense Attorney Brian Livingston requested Judge Antonio Aun to grant a personal recognizance bond, arguing that Aguilar’s mother is struggling financially.
“She is currently behind on her mortgage,” Livingston told the judge.
Assistant District Attorney Talisa Gutierrez argued that the bond should be kept at $50,000 because there is a “descendant.”
However, Aun made the final decision to lower Aguilar’s bond, which had already been lowered from $50,000 to $25,000 with the following conditions: Aguilar must report to a parole officer weekly, he can’t be rearrested while his case is pending, and he is not allowed to leave El Paso County without permission from the court.
As KTSM previously reported, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Winter Spring Place about a domestic dispute early Tuesday morning, Oct. 7.
The initial investigation revealed that a physical altercation occurred between Aguilar and a 37-year-old Jearhamel Fanaro. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Aguilar was then arrested on Friday, Oct. 10, after a warrant for his arrest was issued.
