The event will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the U.S. Border Patrol Station in Alpine, Texas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced in a news release.
CBP said the event will include a moment of silence, a wreath-laying at the station’s 9/11 memorial and remarks from U.S. Border Patrol leadership and local officials.
“A centerpiece of the ceremony will be the Alpine Station’s 9/11 artifact — a 1,300-pound piece of steel from the World Trade Center. This significant artifact, the only one of its kind in the Big Bend Sector, serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength of the American people,” read the news release.
