LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KTSM) -– Common Culture – Luxury Salon Suites’ staff were greeted by a shattered front door after the business was broken into early Thursday morning, Feb. 13 in Las Cruces.
The building is home to individual businesses in the health and beauty industry. Out of 18 suites, six were impacted by the break-in.
Molly Robeson is a tenant at Common Culture, 345 N. Water St.
Her salon, Robeson Hair Artistry LLC, was among the suites affected.
“I have probably a little over $1,000 in retail that was stolen. The total was, they stole all of my hot tools, my clippers, my trimmers. I had a brand-new pair of shears. That alone retailed for $1,600. So, the grand total was just over $3,000 that they got from me alone,” Robeson said.
Eric Schalk, the owner of Common Culture, said this is the first time they have gotten broken into. However, Schalk said break-ins at salons and beauty-related businesses are not uncommon.
“It has happened in salons across Las Cruces in the past couple of years. So, there’s a gang of them that understand that there’s some value here. I think, they understand that there’s some value in the scissors and the tools, obviously,” Schalk said.
KTSM reached out to the Las Cruces Police about this, but we have not heard back.
