EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 38-year-old business owner has been arrested and is facing charges in an alleged construction scam, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Thursday, Nov. 6, detectives from the Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Esli Abraham Escobar-Luevano following an investigation into fraudulent business practices, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began after a victim reported hiring Summit Landscape to build a custom
metal fence. After receiving an initial deposit, the contractor repeatedly delayed the start of
the project, citing scheduling and equipment issues, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Despite numerous attempts by the victim to contact the contractor, no work was ever started, and no refund was issued, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the contractor as Escobar-Luevano, owner of Summit Landscape. Detectives also discovered that Escobar-Luevano had an active warrant for theft of property under $2,500. An additional warrant for theft of property under $2,500 was obtained.
Escobar-Luevano was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a total bond of $4,500.
