EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A recent verbal altercation between spectators and Canutillo ISD (CISD) security staff along with game officials led to the school district issuing a social media statement on Thursday, Feb. 7.
The district said on Wednesday, March 6, spectators at Canutillo High School’s varsity soccer game “displayed unacceptable behvaior which led to a verbal altercation with Canutillo ISD security staff and game officials.”
The district said the individuals were escorted out of the game.
“That behavior does not reflect the values we uphold at Canutillo ISD,” the district said.
CISD Athletics is working to identify the spectators who were involved in the altercations to “outline consequences and set further expectations for future athletic events,” the district said.
“We urge all fans to support our athletes with enthusiasm and positivity while upholding the principles or respect and sportmanship. Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels save and valued,” the district said.
