EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it is planning to construct more than a mile of new border barrier near Mount Cristo Rey in Doña Ana County.
CBP said is seeking input on the project’s potential impacts to the environment, culture, quality of life and commerce.
The proposed border barrier would be 1.32 miles and would be south of Mount Cristo Rey, CBP said.
CBP will accept comments and information until Thursday, July 3.
“Helpful comments are fact-based, include links to data or research, and provide specific information concerning potential impacts. If you are providing a comment about a specific area, please specify that in your comment,” CBP said.

Respondents should include “El Paso Sector Border Barrier Construction” in the subject of their email. Comments will become part of the public record, CBP said.
