KTSM News – CBP: Ysleta international bridge shut down after ‘unattended bag’ found

Posted on February 4, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Ysleta port of entry has halted traffic in both directions after an “unattended bag” was found Tuesday night, Feb. 4, Customs and Border Protection said in a short emailed stament.

The “unattended bag” was found near the international boundary, CBP said. Traffic has been “temporarily suspended” out of what is being called an “abundance of caution and concern for the safety of members of the traveling public, port facilities and the CBP workforce.”

Travelers are being directed to use other ports of entry.

Here is the statement in its entirety:

“Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of members of the traveling public, port facilities, and the CBP workforce, traffic at the Ysleta port of entry has been temporarily suspended after an unattended bag was located near the international boundary.

“The matter is currently under investigation. CBP is working with its partners to direct travelers to other border ports until the situation is resolved. Members of the public can monitor the status of the port of entry on publicly accessible web cams.”
