EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Chapin High School football standout Daveon Singleton announced his verbal commitment to UTEP on X on Saturday.
Singleton announced his commitment on social media hours after the completion of UTEP football’s 2025 spring game at the Sun Bowl on Saturday.
Singleton became the first commit of UTEP’s 2026 recruiting class.
Singleton holds multiple NCAA DI offers: SMU, Hawai’i, UTEP, Texas Tech, Texas State, Minnesota, Arkansas State, and Tarleton.
Singleton is the ultimate athlete on the football field, as he plays almost everything at Chapin High School. Singleton primarily plays wide receiver and running back and will sometimes play quarterback.
Singleton, a junior, has recorded more than 1,000 all-purpose yards in all three seasons he’s played at Chapin.
Point being, UTEP has got an absolute athlete headed its way in 2026.
