EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Betty Moor MacGuire, who devoted much of her life to helping at-risk children in the El Paso Region through the children’s home her family founded, has died at age 101, said the Lee and Beulah Moor Children’s Home.

Moor MacGuire was the daughter the children’s home’s founders, Lee and Beulah Moor. The first children came to the home in 1959 and the home has been caring for children ever since.

“As Chair of the Board of Directors, Betty worked tirelessly to provide care, stability, and hope to children and families in need, ensuring that her parents’ vision continued to make an immeasurable impact,” the home said in its statement on its Facebook page.

Moor MacGuire also was active in the restoration of El Paso’s historic Plaza Theatre.

Here is the complete statement that the children’s home posted on its Facebook page about Moor MacGuire’s death:

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Betty Moor MacGuire at the remarkable age of 101. A woman of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication, Betty left an enduring legacy of service and compassion in the El Paso community.

“As the daughter of Lee and Beulah Moor, she carried forward her family’s mission, dedicating much of her life to the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home. As Chair of the Board of Directors, Betty worked tirelessly to provide care, stability, and hope to children and families in need, ensuring that her parents’ vision continued to make an immeasurable impact.

“Beyond her work with the Children’s Home, Betty was a passionate advocate for preserving El Paso’s rich history, playing a key role in the restoration of the iconic Plaza Theatre. Her love for this community was evident in everything she did, and her efforts will be felt for generations to come.

“Betty will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the lives she touched. We are forever grateful for her contributions and the lasting difference she made.

“Our thoughts are with the MacGuire family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving Betty.”
