EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the 100th birthday of Daniel Marquez, a World War II veteran, on Thursday, July 17.
The celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on July 17 at the Eastside Senior Center, located at 3200 Fierro Dr.
According to the news release by the City of El Paso, Marquez has been part of the Eastside Senior Center community for over 20 years.
The City said the celebration will feature games, complimentary snacks, live entertainment and a special recognition, presented by the Senior Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Marquez is known for his love of dance, including cumbia, merengue and bolero with his partner Celestina, the City said.
“It’s an honor to celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Marquez,” Parks and Recreation Director Pablo Caballero said. “His dedication to community, country, and family embodies the spirit of our senior centers.”
Additionally, Marquez is a father of six, a grandfather of two and a great-grandfather of one, the City said.
