KTSM News – City offering libraries, recreation centers as warming centers

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso announced Monday, Dec. 23 that it is offering library and parks and recreation facilities to serve as warming centers to help residents who may need a safe and warm place to stay.

The move is being made to help “the most vulnerable who may be looking to save on utility costs,” the City said in a news release.

Here is a rundown of locations and their hours:

Library Locations

The community can visit any of the City’s Libraries:

Armijo Library, 620 E. 7th

Clardy Fox, 5515 Robert Alva

Dorris Van Doren, 551 Redd

Esperanza Moreno, 12480 Pebble Hills

Irving Schwartz, 1865 Dean Martin

Jose Cisneros/Cielo Vista, 1300 Hawkins

Judge Marquez, 610 N. Yarbrough

Memorial Park, 3200 Copper

Richard Burges, 9600 Dyer Ste. C

Sergio Troncoso, 9321 Alameda

Westside, 125 Belvidere

Regular Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 1 to 6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and closed on Sunday.

Holiday Hours (Dec. 23 to Jan. 1): 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31; and closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Dec. 31 and Sundays.

Recreation Centers

The community can visit any of the City’s Recreation Centers:

Valle Bajo, 7380 Alameda

Marty Robbins, 11600 Vista Del Sol

Galatzan, 650 Wallenberg

Nations Tobin, 8831 Railroad

Regular Hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and closed Sunday.

Holiday Hours: Closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
