KTSM News – Closures for Independence Day in El Paso region

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Here is a list of some closures and schedule changes for Independence Day around the El Paso region, which falls on Friday, July 4.

Las Cruces Public Schools

All administrative offices at the district will be closed on Friday, July 4, and the district will resume regular business hours at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7.

Doña Ana County

Doña Ana County offices will be closed on July 4, and the office will resume regular business at 8 a.m. on July 7.

First responders and law enforcement will remain active.

Doña Ana Community College

All campuses and centers will be closed on July 4 and will reopen for regular business on July 7.

City of Las Cruces

In observance of the Fourth of July holiday, most City of Las Cruces offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, July 4. All emergency services, including police and fire will operate as usual.

The following City offices, facilities or programs will be open on Thursday, July 3:

  • Roadrunner Transit will operate on a regular schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., but will have some detoured routes due to the parade at 5 p.m. (Routes 6, 7 and 8).
  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave., will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Early closure at 3 p.m. due to Electric Light Parade).
  • Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave., will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Early Closure at 3 p.m. due to Electric Light Parade).
  • Fitness Swim: 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Open Swim: noon – 3 p.m.
  • Open Gym: 7:30 – 3 p.m.
  • Las Cruces Natatorium, 1405 E. Hadley Ave., will be open from 6 – 11 a.m. No evening swim session (Early closure at 11 a.m. due to the Electric Light parade).

The following City offices, facilities or programs will be closed on Friday, July 4:

  • A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven
  • City Hall
  • Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices)
  • East Mesa Recreation Center
  • Foothills Landfill. (Landfill will have normal hours July 3 and 5)
  • Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center
  • Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center
  • Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and its branch libraries
  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center
  • All museums
  • Rio Grande Theatre
  • All Senior Programs services and facilities
  • South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices will close early at 2 p.m.
  • All Roadrunner Transit services and facilities
  • Visit Las Cruces

The following City offices, facilities or programs will be open on Friday, July 4:

  • All commercial and residential solid waste collections will operate as usual
  • Laabs Pool, 701 W. Picacho Ave., it will be a Free Swim Day.
    • Session I: noon to 3 p.m.
    • Session II: 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center will be open from noon to 6:30 p.m.
    • NO Fitness Swim
    • Open Swim Session I: noon to 3 p.m.
    • Open Swim Session II: 3:30 – 6 p.m.
    • Open Gym: noon to 6:30 p.m.
  • Las Cruces Natatorium will be open from 6 – 11 a.m. No afternoon swim session will be offered.
  • The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., and the Corralitos Landfill will close early at 2 p.m. All scheduled curbside collections will run as normal.

El Paso Community College

El Paso Community College will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Friday, July 4.

EPCC classes will resume on Saturday, July 5 and offices will reopen on Monday, July 7.

City of El Paso

All City of El Paso administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

The following offices will be closed or will not provide services on July 4:

  • Community Clinics, Medicaid Waiver Program, WIC Offices, and Rawlings Dental Clinic, STD and HIV Prevention and Surveillance
  • Municipal Court/Bond Offices
  • Museum of Archaeology, Museum of Art, and Museum of History, Mexican American Cultural Center
  • One-Stop Shop
  • Public Libraries
  • Recreation Centers, Senior Centers, and Aquatic Centers
  • Tax Office

The following offices will be open and providing services on July 4:

  • Animal Services
    • Main Shelter (5001 Fred Wilson): 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Mission Valley (9068 Socorro): noon to 2 p.m.
    • Westside Adoption Center (5625 Confetti): noon to 2 p.m.
  • El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Garbage and Recycling Collection
  • Greater El Paso Landfill and Citizen Collection Stations
  • Sun Metro (Streetcar, fixed and paratransit): Sunday/Holiday Schedule
  • El Paso Water Parks
  • All City Spray Parks: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residential trash and recycling will be collected and the Greater El Paso Landfill and Citizen Collection Stations will offer regular service hours on July 4, the City said.

The landfill and Citizen Collection Stations will close on Saturday, July 5 in observance of the holiday weekend, the City said.

Texas Tech Health El Paso

The Texas Tech Health El Paso campus, including libraries, Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics and the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic, will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Regular hours of operation will resume on Monday, July 7.
