KTSM News – Closures, schedule changes for Thanksgiving holiday

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Here is a look at closures and adjusted schedules for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Black Friday on Friday, Nov. 29.

City of El Paso

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, all City of El Paso administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. Administrative offices will resume business on Monday, Dec. 2.

Greater El Paso Landfill and Citizen Collection Stations will be closed

El Paso County

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, all El Paso County administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and on Friday, Nov. 29. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 2

Commissioners Court will not meet on Dec. 2, and County business will resume the following meeting on Monday, Dec. 9 starting at 9:30 a.m.

Offices that will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 29 include:

All County Department Administrative offices

Enrique Moreno County Courthouse

Offices that will be open on Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 29 include:

Ascarate Golf Course

Open from 6:30 a.m. through 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day

Open from 6:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29

All County Parks

From 6 a.m. through 10 p.m.

Socorro ISD

Socorro Independent School District facilities and campuses will be closed for the Thanksgiving break from Monday through Friday, Nov. 25 through Nov. 29. Facilities and campuses will re-open, and classes will resume Monday, Dec. 2. In case of an emergency, contact SISD Police Services Dispatch at (915) 937-4357

City of Las Cruces

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29.

However, all emergency services, including police and fire will operate as usual.

Offices that will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 29 include:

A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven

Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center

Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices).

City Hall

East Mesa Recreation Center

South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices

Foothills Landfill

Amador Transfer Station, 2885 W. Amador Ave. — Thanksgiving Day only

Corralitos Landfill — Thanksgiving Day only

Doña Ana County solid waste collection sites — Thanksgiving Day only.

Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center

Las Cruces Museum System, including Branigan Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, the Museum of Nature and Science, and the Railroad Museum

Las Cruces Public Libraries, including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, branch libraries at Munson Center, and Sage Café

Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center

Las Cruces Natatorium — Thanksgiving Day only.

Meerscheidt Recreation Center — Thanksgiving Day only.

Rio Grande Theatre

Roadrunner Transit services — Thanksgiving Day only

All Senior Programs facilities and services

Operating or open with hours include:

The curbside recycling collection that was supposed to be collected on Thursday, Nov. 28, will instead be collected on Friday, Nov. 29. Friday’s curbside recycling collection will occur as scheduled.

The Foothills Landfill, 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Boulevard, will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.

RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride will operate on a Saturday level of service from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

City Solid Waste Residential Collection and Grappler Collections through Wednesday, Nov. 27 will occur as normal; No residential solid waste collection will occur Thanksgiving Day; both Thursday and Friday residential solid waste collections will occur Friday, Nov. 29. Collection routes not completed Friday, Nov. 29 will be completed Saturday, Nov. 30 beginning at 6 a.m.

City Solid Waste Commercial Collection revised schedule: Monday’s collections will be collected on Sunday, Nov 24 beginning at 6 a.m.; Tuesday’s collections will be collected on Monday, Nov. 25 beginning at 6 a.m.; Wednesday’s collections will be collected on Tuesday, Nov. 26 beginning at 6 a.m.; Thursday’s collections will be collected on Wednesday, Nov. 27 beginning at 6 a.m.; There will be no collections on Thursday, Nov. 28; Friday and Saturday collections will run as normal.

Meerscheidt Recreation Center will be open from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

Las Cruces Natatorium will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 29.

Doña Ana County

Most Doña Ana County administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Emergency services, including law enforcement and fire will not be affected by the closure. County offices will resume regular hours of operation at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.

Doña Ana Community College

Doña Ana Community College (DACC) says all campuses and centers will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.  

There will be no classes for students from Monday, Nov. 25 to Friday, Nov. 29. Offices will be open Monday, Nov. 25 through Wednesday, Nov. 27. All campuses and centers will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29.
