KTSM News – Coldplay to perform at Sun Bowl Stadium: What to expect

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Coldplay will perform on Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, at the Sun Bowl Stadium, and UTEP has provided a fan guide on what to expect.

Doors open at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and overnight camping is not allowed. Those who attend are allowed to start lining up at 3 p.m. on the day of the concert.

Parking will be for sale on the days of the event only. General parking will cost $30 per vehicle, and for some lots closer to the stadium, parking will cost $40 per vehicle.

UTEP will not be selling parking until the day of the event, and those who attend are asked to park and pay at the entrance of each lot.

Electric vehicle parking is available at a reduced cost. Those using Uber/Lyft pick up or drop off will be at SB10, and event ride-share shuttles will be available to and from the north gate of the Sun Bowl starting at 2 p.m. until midnight. A map has been provided below.

The Sun Bowl has a strict clear bag policy. Below are the items that are prohibited.

  • Glass containers
  • Alcohol
  • Coolers and ice chests
  • Laser pens/pointers
  • Fireworks
  • Outside food and beverages
  • Pets
  • Missile-like objects
  • Posters, signs, flags, or banners
  • Video and audio recording devices, including selfie sticks, GoPros, or tablets
  • Professional cameras
  • Weapons
  • Wallet chains
  • Artificial noisemakers
  • Car seats and baby carriers (Must have tickets for car seat and baby carrier)
  • Drones
  • Lawn chairs
  • Strollers
  • Any other items deemed dangerous and/or inappropriate
  • Flags
  • Sealed bottled water (plastic only)

Permitted items are the following:

  • Plastic reusable water bottles
  • Clear fanny packs
  • Collapsable umbrellas only
  • Radios with a headset only
  • Service animals
  • Still cameras with no detachable lens
  • Blankets
  • Baby food (in plastic containers only)
  • Stadium seat cushions – No larger than 14” x 14”
  • Clear Bags – No larger than 12″x6″x12

The Sun Bowl will also have water stations on the days of the event. A map has been provided below with those stations.

The El Paso Streetcar, the rideshare hub, and Sun Metro will also be offering transportation for the concerts.
