EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The community is invited to attend a symposium held in September to learn and engage in the development of a new comprehensive plan known as Envision El Paso, the City of El Paso announced in a news release.
The symposium is open to the public and will take place Sept. 12-14, at the El Paso Museum of Art, 1 Arts Festival Plaza (near the intersection of Santa Fe and Henry Trost).
The schedule is as follows:
Sept. 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
— Presentation by introductory speaker
— Keynote speaker
— Social and networking
Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
— Panel discussions
— Group discussions
— Interactive activity
Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
— Neighborhood workshop
— Walking tours
— Interactive program
At the symposium, El Paso residents, business owners and families will learn more about the development of the community’s new comprehensive plan, which will guide the City’s future growth in areas such as land use, creation of thoroughfares, open spaces/parks and much more, according to the City.
The City said planning industry professionals will lead panel discussions and public engagement activities allowing residents and businesses to provide feedback about El Paso’s growth opportunities and challenges.
“The keynote speaker is award-winning planner, Mitchell J. Silver, a principal with McAdams, full-service civil engineering, land planning, landscape architecture, transportation and geomatics firm,” read the news release. “Silver, who has more than 39 years of experience, is one of the nation’s most celebrated urban thinkers and internationally recognized for his leadership and contributions to contemporary planning issues. He was selected to Planetizen’s list of the 100 Most Influential Urbanists in the world.”
