KTSM News – ComSAR assists 2 injured hikers on Franklin Mountains

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Fire Department’s (EPFD) Combined Search and Rescue (ComSAR) team is responding to two separate incidents involving injured hikers on Christmas afternoon, Dec. 25 in Franklin Mountains State Park.

According to fire officials, the first call came in at 11:36 p.m. to reports of an injured hiker who had fallen in the area of Aztec Cave Trail in the Tom Mays Unit. ComSAR has rescued the hiker and is evaluating their condition.

Shortly afterwards at 12:13 p.m., reports came in of a separate injured hiker on Smuggler’s Pass, near the eastern part of Transmountain Road.

ComSAR crews are responding to both locations to assist the injured hikers.
