Posted on June 18, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries after the El Paso Fire Department’s Combined Search and Rescue (ComSAR) team escorted them and another person off the Franklin Mountains State Park on Wednesday afternoon, June 18.

The call came in at 2:33 p.m. on Wednesday to reports of a person who “appeared to become overheated,” El Paso Fire said.

ComSAR was dispatched to assist in escorting the patient off the Franklin Mountains, El Paso Fire said.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., El Paso Fire said all ComSAR members were off the mountain and the patient was being evaluated by paramedics.

El Paso Fire originally said that two people were transported with minor injuries (code 1), but one person was upgraded to a serious injury (code 3) transport.

A total of 14 units were dispatched to the scene, El Paso Fire said.
