EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, in collaboration with the El Paso Department of Public Health, will offer measles vaccines at no cost to the community this week.
The Free Measles Vaccination campaign will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, May 14, at the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, 910 E. San Antonio Ave.
The goal of this campaign is to prevent the spread of measles and to protect the health of both children and adults, the Consulate said in a news release.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be safely and effectively prevented through vaccination, according to the news release.
The Consulate said those who have not received the measles (MMR) vaccine or are unsure of their vaccination status are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated to help stop the spread of the virus.
“The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso reaffirms its commitment to the health of the border community and will continue to provide access to measles vaccines and quality medical services while promoting a culture of health prevention,” read the news release.
