EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County kicked off a far-ranging infrastructure modernization project that aims to save millions of dollars over the next 20 years.
The County held a kickoff event with Schneider Electric on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the County Courthouse in Downtown El Paso.
The kickoff event celebrates the “County’s initiative to address critical infrastructure improvements and sustainability goals across 30 County buildings, promising improved energy efficiency, reduced costs, and water conservation,” the County said in a news release.
The project will include: mechanical plant upgrades at the County Courthouse; building automation system upgrades at the County Courthouse; water efficiency upgrades at the County Detention Center and Jail Annex; and County-wide LED lighting upgrades.
The project is estimated to save $1 million in the first year with a total projected savings of $40 million over 20 years, the County said.
