EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Delta Academy teacher has been honored for having a 100 percent certification success rate for students who complete his welding program.
The El Paso Independent School District made the announcement on Wednesday, Aug. 6, via its website.

Welding instructor John Gable was recently recognized during a Juvenile Justice Board meeting for his “unwavering commitment to student success and workforce readiness,” according to EPISD.
EPISD said Gable is making a powerful impact on students in the Challenge Program at the El Paso County Juvenile Probation Department (JPD), and this accomplishment means that every eligible student leaves the program with a credential that opens doors to future employment and career opportunities.
“This recognition is well-deserved,” Roberto Padilla, principal of CCTA, RTA, and Delta Academies, said. “Mr. Gable’s work with the students in the Challenge Program shows that with the right support, high expectations, and opportunity, every student can thrive. His impact extends far beyond the classroom and he’s helping students build futures.”
In addition, the recognition included a heartfelt speech from one of Gable’s students who earned their Industry-Based Welding Certification under his guidance.
“The welding certification is more than just a credential; it represents a second chance for many students who have faced significant challenges. Mr. Gable’s passion, patience, and persistence have inspired confidence and created real pathways for success,” read the news release by EPISD.
