KTSM News – Diocese of El Paso, others to hold Mass, march in ‘solidarity with migrants’

Posted on March 12, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Hope Border Institute, Bishop Mark J. Seitz of the Diocese of El Paso, and local community leaders will hold a “March and Vigil in Solidarity with Migrants” on Monday, March 24 in Downtown El Paso, the Catholic Diocese of El Paso said in a press release.

The Diocese says the mass march and vigil will take place at 6 p.m. in San Jacinto Plaza on Monday, March 24.

The Diocese says the march and vigil will take place regarding the closure of the “US-Mexico border to asylum seekers, harsh rhetoric against those who have immigrated to the United States, and threats of mass deportation.”

An international delegation of Catholic bishops, including bishops from the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Vatican will also be present at the march and vigil, the Diocese said.

Community leaders and organizations participating include Ruben Garcia of Annunciation House, Melissa Lopez of Estrella del Paso, Auxiliary Bishop Anthony Celino of the Diocese of El Paso, the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande, Iglesia Delta, Trinity First United Methodist Church, Abara, El Paso faith, civic leaders and others, the Diocese said.
