KTSM News – DOCS: Burglary suspect makes soup, chocolate milk inside woman’s home

Posted on February 12, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 44-year-old Las Cruces man is facing a couple of charges after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home in Las Cruces, made himself some soup and chocolate milk and took some of her photos and other food, according to court documents obtained by KTSM.

Tommy Lee Lucero, 44, is facing a charge of burglary of a dwelling or house and concealing identity after an investigation by the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, the victim returned to her home along the 2300 block of Desert Aire Drive to find a strange man in her home.

She told deputies that when she saw the man, she yelled, “Get the (expletive) out of my house” and ran down the street to her brother’s house to call 911.

When she later did a walk-through of her home, she found that soap in her bathrooms had been moved to different locations.

She also found that the man had made himself some instant soup and chocolate milk.

She also told deputies that she was missing “a lot of food from the fridge and pantry,” according to court documents.

She later found some of the food in her laundry room in a plastic container. She also found food outside the home in plastic bags.

Those plastic bags had contained photos the victim had in the living room area and in one of the bedrooms. She found the photos in a trash bag outside and they had been torn into small pieces, according to court documents.

The victim said she was also missing eight to 10 pairs of shoes. She also found a pair of shoes in her home that did not belong to her that “had a strong odor stink.”

When she had initially ran out of the house, she had thrown her purse onto the living room couch. She later discovered that her identification and some crash, described as less than $25, were also missing.

When deputies arrived, the suspect gave a false name but correct birth date.

He also told deputies that he was living in the house with his girlfriend — the victim of the burglary — and they had been dating “since pre-school.”

Deputies later found the victim’s identification, taken from her purse, near her bed.
