EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 59-year-old man from Chaparral shot and killed his wife on Monday, April 1 in Mesilla and is still at large, according to court documents obtained by KTSM.
Court documents say Oscar Renee Sandoval, 59, shot and killed his wife Sheireen Aljibury, 39, on University Avenue that Monday.
Court documents say a witness at the scene was driving eastbound on University Avenue and saw a gray SUV stop in the westbound lane.
Court documents say the witness saw Aljibury get out of the SUV from the right passanger side and ran towards the witness’ vehicle.
Aljibury told the witness that she had been shot and motioned with her hand to call 911.
The witness told police that she remained in her vehicle after seeing Sandoval chasing Aljibury and shooting her.
The witness told police that she heard four gunshots and Aljibury fell to the ground on the dirt shoulder near the pavement off University Avenue.
The witness told police that she saw Sandoval turn around and began walking towards her vehicle. The witness then reversed the vehicle and saw Sandoval enter the SUV.
Sandoval then drove away westbound on University Avenue and continued looking at the witness as he left the scene.
The witness then moved her vehicle towards Aljibury and proceeded to render aid. The witness also called 911 and gave the dispatcher information on Sandoval and the SUV.
Deputies with the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Offfice (DASO) arrived at the scene and the witness gave a description of Sandoval.
Investigators with the DASO ran a background check and discovered that Aljibury had been arrested in the past and had Sandoval listed as her husband. The background check also showed that the SUV was registered to Sandoval.
Court documents say Aljibury’s daughter called dispatch early Tuesday morning, April 2 reporting that she had not heard from her parents.
Aljibury’s daughter used a cell phone tracker application and tracked her mother’s cellphone to an area in Sunland Park, according to court documents.
The daughter located Sandoval’s vehicle, and her mother’s cellphone which was found inside the SUV.
After searching the vehicle, investigators found a wallet with Sandoval’s drivers license and credit cards in his name. The vehicle also had a bullet hole in the right passenger window.
Law enforcement officials later discovered that Sandoval signed over rights to his son regarding property that he owned with no explanation a few days prior to the incident.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sandoval on Wednesday, April 3 for first degree murder.
