EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Dog swim season is about to kick off at Ascarate Pool.
This special series will kick off with the inaugural “Canine Fiesta” on Sept. 6, followed by regularly scheduled “Pup Swim” days in September.
It all begins with Canine Fiesta, which El Paso County is billing as a fun-filled event to provide dogs and their owners with an opportunity to enjoy the pool together.
Canine Fiesta will be from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Ascarate Pool.
The celebration will include a cutest outfit contest and a dog paddle competition.
Following the kickoff, regular Pup Swim days, with multiple opportunities for dogs to enjoy the water, will be held on Wednesays and Saturdays, from Sept. 10 through Sept. 27.
Times are as follows:
- Wednesdays: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Saturdays: 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m
Registration will only be available on the day of each event; entry is $2 per dog; owners swim free.
The following participation guidelines will be strictly enforced, the County says:
- Proof of current rabies, distemper, and parvo vaccinations is required.
- All dogs must be accompanied and supervised by an owner at all times.
- Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
