EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Doña Ana County is assisting residents that are being affected by the wildfires in Ruidoso and Mescalero.
According to a news release by Doña Ana County, Fire Rescue and Animal Control Office staff are on standby for mobilization orders from the State Emergency Operations Center with a team from Las Cruces Fire.
“The fire disaster affecting Ruidoso and surrounding areas is tragic, but we will support our friends and neighbors. We have already committed some personnel and equipment to the response, and are ready to send more as they are needed. In the meantime, we encourage anyone wanting to help to consider making cash donations through either the Greatest Needs Impact Fund or through the American Red Cross,” Interim County Manager Stephen Lopez said.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is partnering with the American Red Cross to assist disaster shelters in Roswell, Doña Ana County said.
In addition, OEM is transporting supplies for the Red Cross with an OEM shelter support trailer. OEM is also taking shelter supplies for 40 pets/animals with portable kennels.
Fire Rescue will assist with controlling and extinguishing the wildfires, Doña Ana County said, and Animal Control staff will provide emergency rescue and shelter trailer with animal cages.
Cash donations can be made to those affected by the wildfires and evacuations to the Greatest Needs Impact Fund here. These funds will provide financial resources to support immediate and long-term recovery for people, animals and places affected by the fires.
