EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution for a five-year plan that will increase the cost of the solid waste disposal coupons on Tuesday, July 22.
According to the news release by the County, the solid waste disposal coupons, also known as trash disposal punch cards, will increase in cost, starting on Aug. 1.

The price for each punch card will increase every two years as follows, according to the County:
- Aug. 1, 2025: $5 per punch, or equivalent
- Aug. 1, 2027: $6 per punch, or equivalent
- Aug. 1, 2029: $7 per punch, or equivalent
- Aug. 1, 2031: $8 per punch, or equivalent
According to the County, the current rate of the punch cards has not been adjusted in over 10 years, while the cost of solid waste disposal continues to increase.
Residents are encouraged to purchase a supply of cards before the price increase to take advantage of the current rates, the County said.
Additionally, the County stated that the minimum tipping fee applied by the South Central Solid Waste Authority is $7.80, and the County has been covering the difference in cost for years.
