KTSM News – Doña Ana County unveils new EV charging stations

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Doña Ana County announced the installation of public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at three locations.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Government Center in Las Cruces for the EV installations, according to Doña Ana County.

According to the news release by Doña Ana County, the installations were in partnership with El Paso Electric and the New Mexico Department of Transportation in an initiative to make EV charging more accessible.

“The introduction of these new fast-charging electric vehicle stations is a significant step in our efforts to build an electric vehicle fleet to accelerate the County’s transition to clean energy transportation,” Assistant County Manager Jonathan Macias said. “We appreciate the partnership with El Paso Electric and New Mexico Department of Transportation as we move toward a more sustainable community together.”

The new EV fast charging stations are at the following locations:

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office

865 Anthony Dr., Anthony

Village of Hatch Administration Office

133 N Franklin St., Hatch

Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office

845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces

“We are thrilled to work alongside Doña Ana County to expand the EV charging infrastructure in New Mexico,” Angie Rodriguez, supervisor for Electrification of Transportation at El Paso Electric said. “These new charging stations represent our shared commitment to building a cleaner, more sustainable future for our communities. Together, we are making it easier for residents and visitors to choose electric vehicles, knowing they can count on convenient charging options.”

Residents and visitors can find the new charging stations and others on “PlugShare,” a free app and website.
